If you are Windows user and need to import your pictures from your iPhone here is how you do it.
Plugin your iPhone to your computer with the supplied USB cable.
Vista should install the drivers (if it hasn’t done so already) and ask you what you would like to do.
Click on Import Pictures and the Import Pictures dialog will ask you if you want to Tag your photos. This step is optional but can help organize if you have a lot of pictures in your library.
Here is some more information from Microsoft on organizing your pictures.

You can also choose the location where the files will be imported to by clicking Options in the lower left hand side.
After you have selected all of your options click OK and import to start importing your photos. The import time will depend on the number of photos you have on your iPhone.
Conclusion
That’s all there is to it. Similar procedures should work for Windows XP as well and your other digital cameras.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

You can still view your iPhone when you open My Computer. It will be listed under the removable media section.
the problem is that i don’t only want the pictures from my camera roll,
i want to download my whole Library! how do i do that?
If you can’t import photos from your iPhone to your computer (whether Mac of PC), you might want to check to see if you have any photos in the camera roll on your iPhone that did not originate from the iPhone camera (i.e. someone emailed you, taken on another camera, received from your computer, copied from the internet, etc.). If you do then Apple disables your ability to import or sync ANY photos contained on your iPhone until the non-originating photos are removed from the iPhone camera roll. The only work around is to email those non-originating pictures to yourself and then delete them to re-enable your ability to import/sync the remaining photos. I know it’s a pain. Of course you could let Apple know how unsatisfactory this is at: http://www.apple.com/feedback
